Favicon stands for "Favorites Icon" and is a miniature logo that becomes associated with a website when the site is saved in a visitors Favorites or Bookmarks.
A special logo or other small graphic (the favicon) is usually displayed next to the web site address the same way shortcut icons are used on a computer desktop to tell the difference between programs and files.
Favicons are used to "brand" web sites, and to make them more memorable.
